[Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Old Man Logan #17.] Jeff Lemire’s run on Old Man Logan has been, admittedly, a touch on the choppy side, as he’s leapt from genres to genre: from western to samurai/spiritual cult misadventures to monster movie romp. Nevertheless, Lemire handles the change-ups well, in particular the rapidly shifting temporal fluxes which come fast and furious in the latest story arc, “Return to the Wastelands.” Fortunately, he’s also got Andrea Sorrentino’s stunning artwork to smooth Logan’s jump cuts between outer space and his theoretical dystopian future....

That’s one of the key takeaways from a recent survey of 400 IT executives, conducted by IDG and underwritten by Insight Enterprises. Disney’s Star Wars has wasted Wedge Antilles. “Red Two” in the first Star Wars film, Wedge was originally played by Colin Higgins, but the actor was fired as he struggled to remember his lines. He was replaced by Denis Lawson for the scenes depicting the Battle of Yavin. Lawson was pleasantly surprised when he was called to return in The Empire Strikes Back, because he actually thought his character died in the Death Star run....

The answer to the question in the headline is, of course, “No, not really.” A cursory glance at your review aggregate of choice will make it plain enough that the majority of costumed-crimefighter epics of late received decent marks on average. The only times recently when the movie press has seemingly “ganged-up” on the genre have been instances like Batman V Superman or X-Men: Apocalypse, where an overall negative appraisal was very much in line with the broader cultural zeitgeist....

It looks as if Devil May Cry 5 could receive a port to the Nintendo Switch, provided that gamers are willing to purchase another Capcom game on the platform beforehand. The latest entry in the series has received an abundance of praise, with Devil May Cry 5 accumulating some of the highest review scores of any game in 2019 so far. The immense excitement and praise for title, alongside several others from the studio, have reaffirmed Capcom as a top developer in the eyes of some gamers....

When Diablo 4 eventually launches, it will feature more than 100 towns and villages and more NPC interaction than ever before. Blizzard revealed Diablo 4 officially last week during BlizzCon 2019, and they showcased everything from cinematic trailers to gameplay. They even let streamers from around the world play and broadcast the demo for fans on the convention’s show floor. The Hangman returns in The Gallows: Act II, the latest film from writers/directors Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff. The original The Gallows was a surprise hit when it launched in 2015, grossing $43 million worldwide off a budget of only $100,000. While mostly dismissed by critics, the film has earned a cult following for its earnest approach to the genre and the many twists and turns in its tight script....

The Walt Disney Company’s Disney+ adds a ‘continue watching’ feature to the streaming service’s user interface across all platforms, from the mobile app to desktop. Disney+ officially launched two weeks ago and despite issues on the first day, including an inability to login for some users and other load problems, the Mouse House’s latest venture appears to be a success. Lucasfilm’s first live-action Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian, is incredibly popular - and exclusive to Disney+....

Disney is definitely planning to roll Disney Plus out internationally. The House of Mouse has been quietly conducting major structural changes ahead of the streaming service’s launch and the Fox acquisition, and senior executive VP and chief strategy officer Kevin Mayer has been named head of a new unit called “Disney direct-to-consumer and international.” This division is responsible for oversight of all Disney distribution, including Disney Plus, ESPN, and Disney’s shareholding in Hulu....

Yesterday on his Talk Show podcast, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber suggested that his Apple sources told him that Apple invented USB Type-C. A report from Digitimes suggests that the iPad Pro will get refreshed later this year, and with it, a new Smart Keyboard with backlit keys. Digitimes says Apple plans to roll out its “glowing” scissor switch keyboard across its products, starting with the 13-inch MacBook Pro in the first half of the year. Following several years of the unreliable and controversial butterfly mechanism, Apple reverted to a scissor switch keyboard with the 16-inch MacBook Pro....

The first Baby Yoda tie-in products from The Mandalorian are available, but fans will probably find them disappointing. Disney and Lucasfilm made the curious decision to hide the character of The Child (or “Baby Yoda,” as he’s commonly referred to by viewers) in marketing materials prior to The Mandalorian’s premiere on Disney+ earlier this month. As a result, no Baby Yoda merchandise was on shelves in the weeks leading up to the show’s premiere - much to the chagrin of viewers who immediately fell in love with adorable infant member of Yoda’s mysterious species....

Disney has announced a new project for their upcoming digital streaming service - a television series based on the movie High Fidelity. The series will have a twist, however, centering upon a female protagonist, while still maintaining the romantic comedy tone of the original movie. Based on the novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity tells the story of Rob Gordon - a devout music fan and record-shop owner, who is played by John Cusack....

Interesting screenshots from SpeechTrans Ultimate Powered By Nuance just hit our inbox. Some of the screenshots seem to depict an iPhone with a 4-inch screen. Nuance is widely believed to be working deeply with Apple on their speech recognition technology but this is a third party app so the chances are slim that SpeechTrans knows something.
