Apple is reportedly putting together a new engineering team that would focus on creating baseband hardware for future iPhone models, according to Digitimes. Apple’s current chips are supplied by Qualcomm, but is said to be considering a move to an in-house design as it did with its mobile processors with the launch of the iPad. The report indicates that any such design would not appear in hardware this year, but could be considered for the next round of iPhone updates....

As Marvel Studios moves beyond Phase 3, they are developing another franchise that could replace Avengers. The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have began with just Iron Man, but it was the forethought to build to The Avengers that truly launched the interconnected franchise. The MCU library is now nineteen movies deep, with Avengers: Infinity War out in theaters and crushing the competition at the box office. But, with the future of the MCU still very much under wraps, what exactly will happen next is up for speculation....

Disney is reportedly planning to add cash to its all-stock bid to purchase the bulk of 21st Century Fox’s movie and TV assets. This is merely the latest twist in the bidding war between Disney and Comcast, with Fox shareholders making a crucial vote early next month. In December of last year, Disney finalized a $52.4 billion all-stock offer to purchase 20th Century Fox and various other movie and TV divisions of 21st Century Fox....

Apple is today informing developers of a new policy change through iTunes Connect. From April, the ‘What’s New In This Version’ text and the support URLs in App Store listings will no longer be able to changed at will. Changes to this metadata will now require a new app update to be submitted to the App Store. The news was quietly posted on the iTunes Connect portal for signed-in developers overnight....

It seems pretty likely according to some research done by Macrumors. imsense’s technology is likely behind the processing of the overexposed/underexposed images taken with the iPhone 4’s camera that leads to the often-better HDR pictures. Here’s the evidence, which is pretty damning: According to a note on the website of Braveheart Ventures, which backed imsense, the company was acquired by “an undisclosed trade buyer in July 2010”. According to a press release from Braveheart, it received £342,000 for its minority stake in imsense, more than doubling its original £150,000 investment in two years....

Star Trek: Discovery season 2, episode 9, “Project Daedalus”, contains a bloody callback to Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In the final film starring the original Star Trek cast, Starfleet assassins wearing environmental suits and gravity boots boarded the Klingon flagship to assassinate Chancellor Gorkon. In “Project Daedalus”, Michael Burnham leads an away team to infiltrate Section 31’s forward operating base that intriguingly echoes that infamous moment from Star Trek VI....

In the wake of outcry from fans, Disney+ has released a statement announcing they will make The Simpsons’ episodes available in their original aspect ratio by 2020. Disney+ secured the rights to be the exclusive streaming home for Homer and the gang following Disney’s acquisition of many of 20th Century Fox’s assets.
