A potential snag in the Disney/Fox buyout deal has presented itself, now that Comcast has made a cash bid to takeover British broadcasting giant, Sky. Comcast has offered $31 billion for the 61% of Sky not currently owned by Fox. A significant reason for the large acquisition of Fox by Disney, outside of control of other Marvel properties and Avatar, was its international presence through Sky. Fox had previously made overtures to take complete control of the satellite broadcaster, most recently in 2016 for $16 billion....

It appears Apple may be working to expand the Dark Mode feature for macOS. Introduced with Yosemite, OS X Dark Mode changes the appearance of just the Dock and menubar to a black translucent style rather than white/silver. A developer/hacker on Twitter has seemingly found a way to activate a more comprehensive dark appearance for some system apps such as Safari or System Preferences, as pictured. It’s unclear what method or technique the developer is using to activate this and there’s no indication that this headed to public release anytime soon....

A new report suggests that Microsoft will be releasing another version of the Xbox One console in 2019, with this model featuring digital-only gameplay. Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes is calling for iPad 3 in October. Based on an industry chatter in the Asian supply chain, they are claiming that Apple has begun commissioning parts for the third-generation iPad and fifth-generation iPhone, both debuting in small quantities in September and in volume the following month. iPad 3 should be “even thinner and lighter”, with panel resolution increasing to 250dpi. There won’t be two iPhones – one being a major upgrade and the other for low-income markets – as some analysts predicted....
