Here’s a guide to the cast and characters of Spike Lee’s 1989 film Do The Right Thing. This critically acclaimed comedy/drama was Lee’s third film after 1986’s She’s Gotta Have It and School Daze. It was nominated for a slew of awards including a couple of Oscars, a few Golden Globes and the prestigious Palme d’Or at Cannes. Do The Right Thing is still regarded as a ground-breaking contribution to filmmaking today and is one of a handful of movies - alongside Goodfellas and Fargo - added to the National Film Registry as soon as it passed the ten-year waiting period required....

Developer Hamza Sood has done some digging inside the public iOS 8.2 build that was distributed to users on Monday. Although the Apple Watch is included by default as stock app (undeletable, whether you like it or not), the OS also includes an Activity app. Although it was previously known that the app existed, Apple has not shared details about what features the app has or even how you installed onto your phone....

Apparently, Diggle’s time as the Green Arrow won’t last very long. The CW’s Arrow pulled out a huge twist during last week’s episode ‘Tribute’, as Oliver dropped his title as Star City’s number one crime-fighting vigilante and passed the mantle to Diggle. Despite being hampered by his physical defect, an impassioned speech from Oliver - concerning why he needs to put his dangerous days behind him - followed by a pep talk, eventually convinced the former military man to step up to the plate....

Walt Disney Studios is rumored to be eyeing Brie Larson to play the title role in their live-action Snow White spinoff movie, Rose Red. The original Snow White was famously made by Disney (then-known as Walt Disney Productions) way back in 1937, and it was the first animated film of its kind. Adapting the classic German fairy-tale from the Brothers Grimm, it proved all doubters wrong and became an iconic smash hit, both critically and financially....

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says the Deadpool movies won’t change, now that Disney owns the X-Men rights. The Mouse House finalized its purchase of Fox’s assets last month, giving it full control over their IPs like Avatar, Alien, and The Simpsons, to name but a few. It also gave Disney the rights to both the Fantastic Four and X-Men films, which includes the Ryan Reynolds-led Deadpool and its sequel (not to mention, the PG-13 Once Upon a Deadpool cut)....

What Men Want is a new comedy starring Taraji P. Henson (Empire, Hidden Figures) and directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray). Releasing this February from Paramount, Henson plays a sports agent who gains the ability to hear men’s innermost thoughts. When Screen Rant visited the Atlanta set of What Men Want earlier this year, Shankman was busy directing a scene in where Ali (Henson) overhears more than she cares for, illustrating how the comedy in What Men Want is found in the contrast between character’s spoken words and their inner thoughts....

Digitimes Research has predicted that iPad sales could fall this quarter to their lowest level since 2011. There are a couple of issues with the forecast – the first being the patchy track-record of the source, and the second being that the ‘historic low’ claim isn’t quite accurate if you include the first year or so, as the above graph from Statista shows. Apple is expected to ship 9.8 million iPads in the first quarter of 2016, historically its lowest quarterly level, with decreases of 39....

Disney’s adding more star power to Mulan with the additions of Jet Li and Gong Li. The live-action remake of Mulan is the latest effort from Disney to recycle their animated tales in a new light. This formula has so far proven to be very financially lucrative for the studio, spurning them on to develop even more projects of this ilk. Although the live-action Mulan was delayed to 2020 earlier this year, the casting process is well underway now....

While Kill Bill may not quite be the greatest Tarantino movie, it just might be the Tarantino-iest Tarantino movie. (And the director does consider it to be one film, despite marketing concerns forcing him to split it up into two theatrical releases.) It introduced us to Tarantino’s penchant for chapter-based narratives, weaved together his most eclectic combination of genres (Shaw Brothers kung fu movies, spaghetti westerns, Chinese wuxia films, and blaxploitation movies, to name a select handful), and has more cartoonishly bloody violence than the rest of his films combined (except for maybe Django Unchained)....

After beginning the iPhone XR teardown process yesterday, iFixit has now shared its full inside look at the device. The site prefaces its teardown by saying that if you’ve been wondering what happened to the “iPhone 9,” the iPhone XR is it. First and foremost, iFixit highlights the iPhone XR’s large battery size. As early reviews noted, the iPhone XR packs a punch in terms of battery life, and iFixit says that’s because it’s single-cell rectangular battery weighs in at 11....

Detective Pikachu was a smash-hit as a movie, but the 3DS game didn’t fare quite as well. Obviously, the concept was used for a film, but the game itself suffered from sluggish pacing and incredibly easy puzzles. With a sequel officially announced there are quite a few improvements that the developer, Creatures, can make. Of course, more challenging gameplay and puzzles are chief among these, but there are several story improvements to be made as well....

An iOS developer said Apple demonstrated that their app could be used to surf for porn by sending them a screenshot containing a pornographic image. Carl Smith shared the story of the rejection of Wave, an app for browsing Instagram and public images, in a blog post. The explicit image was attached to an email rejecting the app on the basis that the process for flagging inappropriate content was inadequate … It turns out Apple thought the best way to tell us our app could be used to surf porn was to surf for porn using our app....

Without a doubt, Star Wars is still one of the most beloved American franchises. Although last year had its drawbacks with many fans reacting adversely to both The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars remains alive and well. While Bob Iger might say he is going to slow down production on films, the overall content machine over at Lucasfilm is still busy busting out TV series, videogames, books, comics, and more....

Disney has officially closed down DisneyToon Studios, the company’s third animation studio after Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. DisneyToon (which was originally called Disney MovieToons) has been around for three decades and produced nearly 50 feature films over the course of its run. The studio got its start with 1990’s DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, a theatrical release based on the DuckTales cartoon series that Disney aired from 1987-1990....

Apple just made the Beats deal official, announcing its plans to acquire both Beats Music and Beats Electronics for $3 billion. Apple CEO Tim Cook has conducted several interviews with various news organisations about the deal, revealing some interesting tidbits. The press release noted that Apple will keep Beats around as a separate brand, including Beats’ hardware. Most notably, however, Cook told the Financial Times that Apple will not remove the Beats app from competing app stores on Android and Windows Phone....

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 episodes end with a “created by George Lucas” credit, so naturally fans are wondering what level of involvement he had with the new batch of episodes on Disney+. The filmmaker’s name is attached to every new Star Wars movie or show since he created the universe, but Clone Wars’ history on television itself makes this a little different, with roots going all the way back to 2003 while Lucas still owned the company....

Digimon holds a special place in the hearts of many anime fans, especially those who grew up during the late 90s and early 2000s. While the franchise never quite reached the same commercial heights as Pokémon, an argument can definitely be made that Digimon’s anime far exceeds Ash’s neverending adventure to catch ’em all. If nothing else, Digimon Adventure sought to tell a complete story, even if not every plotline received a proper conclusion....

Although the previous generation iPod nano had curved glass (it wasn’t universally loved), the Samsung Nexus S was the first mainstream smartphone with curved glass. If Digitimes is right, the iPhone 5 may be the second (and likely more popular). That would seem to fly in the face of recent reports that the iPhone 5 would be very similar to the iPhone 4 in appearance. Digitimes has found what they think is anecdotal evidence....

A pair of popular streaming TV services announced price hikes for customers today. AT&T has announced a price increase for DirecTV Now, while Sony has subsequently increased prices for its PlayStation Vue service. These announcements come a week after Sling TV announced a similar price bump. First, as noted by Cord Cutters, AT&T is increasing the price of all of its DirecTV packages by $5 per month. This means the intro-level “Live a Little” package will increase from $35 per month to $40 per month, while the top-of-the-line “Gotta Have It” will rise from $70 to $75 per month....
