Longtime Disney CEO Bob Iger recently returned to Disney after two years of retirement, and he’s already saying nope about a potential takeover by Apple. Disney abruptly fired former CEO Bob Chapek this month and replaced the handpicked Bob Iger replacement with Bob Iger. Disney has tasked the 71-year-old with leading the company for two years during the search for a new CEO. Iger previously lead Disney for two decades....

Thomas Mann has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action Lady and the Tramp remake as Jim Dear, aka. one of Lady’s two human owners. The Kong: Skull Island and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl actor’s onscreen wife - who is known as simply Darling - will be played by Kiersey Clemons (Dope, Angie Tribeca) in the film. The Mouse House’s original 1955 animated classic Lady and the Tramp (an adaptation of the Ward Greene story Happy Dan, The Whistling Dog) is told from the perspective of the eponymous Lady - an American Cocker Spaniel - and her fellow dogs....

Disney will have over 8,000 ABC TV episodes alone, and that’s not factoring in things from Disney XD, Freeform, and other networks they own. Not to mention, all the Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars content that Disney has access to. On the latter front, we learned earlier this week that Disney is developing multiple Star Wars shows for the streaming site, including word that a live-action series is finally on the way....

A Senate committee reviewing the effectiveness of the Disability Support Pension has heard plenty of long-standing complaints and frustrations about the payment. Similar concerns regarding the national disability insurance scheme were raised last year. Speaker said that people who should be eligible for the DSP are often demoted to much lower payments due to job-seeking requirements, and applicants must “jump through hoops” to receive assistance. Also, according to speakers, the process does not “understand” certain conditions, and eligibility requirements are too bureaucratic and focused on the medical model of disability....

Disney Channel has proven to be a prolific breeding ground for A-list celebrities. A disproportionate number of recent A-listers can trace their origins back to Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club. Popular developer Hector Martin today announced a Patreon funding to help him bring Linux to Apple Silicon Macs. Hector Martin is a developer known for porting Linux to a variety of devices. Back in 2016, he announced a project that brought Linux with 3D acceleration to PlayStation 4....

Digitimes has published an interesting report this evening, saying Apple will begin the production of a 7.85-inch iPad in Q2 2012. Apple will reportedly begin selling the smaller iPads prior to Q4 2012, but will also sell another iPad in Q1 2012 — presumably the iPad 3. LG Display and AU Optronics will reportedly be the manufacturers for the 7.85-inch panels, and will hit the supply streams in Q2 2012....

Rebel Wilson has revealed the official title and release date for MGM’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake co-starring Anne Hathaway. Wilson originally jumped aboard the project in August 2016, with Hathaway joining her in January 2017. The actresses reportedly play con artists from differing social backgrounds who team up to swindle a naive tech genius. Chris Addison (Veep) directs from a script by Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow). Released in 1988, the original Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin as the titular grifting duo....

The lead designer for Disco Elysium revealed in a YouTube video that the game’s dialog boxes were based on Twitter feeds. The title released last October and almost immediately garnered universal acclaim. The conversation systems and narrative structure received most of the praise for being particularly innovative. Disco Elysium has won several awards at this point, particularly Best Independent Game and Best Role-Playing Game from The Game Awards, as well as many other nominations....

Four large Apple resellers in India have reported a trebling of iPhone 4 sales in just five days after Apple introduced a trade-in scheme allowing customers to hand in their existing phone as part-payment on an iPhone 4, reports The Times of India. Customers are offered a minimum Rs7,000 ($128) trade-in on any handset against the Rs26,500 ($486) cost of an iPhone 4. Retailers pay Rs,2000 of this in return for the right to sell the used handset, while Apple pays the Rs5,000 balance....

Disney confirms the full cast for The Lion King live-action remake. Walt Disney Pictures has found a great deal of success in recent years with live-action updates of staples from their animated classics collection. Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella and Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast both stuck closely to their respective animated films - which are themselves adaptations of well known fairy tales - with minor updates for modern audiences and, of course, live-action imagery....

Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in March 2019, and has since announced its plans to continue Fox’s highly-successful Planet of the Apes trilogy; however, it remains unclear if the project(s) in development will be a continuation of the trilogy or a reboot. Caesar’s story ended so well in War for the Planet of the Apes, the last instalment of the PotA franchise, that it would be difficult for writers to continue the story....

The growing consensus is that Detective Pikachu is a fun and charming story that largely bucks the trend of video game adaptations being disappointing for both general audiences and fans of the source material. Detective Pikachu is based on a puzzle game of the same name for the Nintendo 3DS released in a truncated version in Japan in 2016, then worldwide in a completed form two years later....

Well-known developers Steve Troughton-Smith, Saurik and Adam Bell have managed to hack the Apple Watch on watchOS 2 to run truly native apps on the device. Although Apple is advertising native apps with watchOS 2, it isn’t as ‘native’ as some developers wanted or expected. The logic code now runs on the watch, but raw access to the user interface is still not allowed on watchOS 2. This means frameworks like UIKit cannot be used to draw truly custom UI....

The action-packed adventures of Dante and Nero returned this year with Devil May Cry 5, which also includes multiple secret missions. Like previous titles in the Devil May Cry franchise, the goal of the game is to hack and slash through horde after horde of demons by using a variety of combo attacks and weapons at the main characters’ disposal.
