Disney rings in the new year with a pair of TV spots for Dumbo, its first major in-studio release of 2019. The live-action remake of the Mouse House’s 1941 animated classic reunites the studio with director Tim Burton, who previously called the shots on their live-action Alice in Wonderland movie. More recently, the filmmaker reunited with Disney on the 2012 stop-motion animated feature Frankenweenie, based on his original 1984 short....

Ashley Jensen is the first actor to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action Lady and the Tramp remake. Zazie Beetz has stated that she believes Deadpool should keep its R-rating. California’s Disneyland Resort announced that it will be raising ticket prices for 2020 in anticipation of Avengers Campus. Disneyland is recruiting guests to become super heroes with the help of their favorite Marvel characters. Spider-Man seems to be the star of the show. He will soar over guests’ heads and even have his own attraction: Worldwide Engineering Brigade where guests can learn how to drive Tony Stark’s latest invention, the Web Slinger....

At launch, Disney+ will be supported by multiple devices and platforms, with potentially more coming in the future. Disney offically joins the streaming wars with its service that offers well over 800 programs at launch. This includes an impressive number of 300 movie titles and 7,000 television episodes. These numbers are sure to go up in the coming months as more content is added. Marvel fans may want to start planning some theme park getaways, as it’s now been announced that there will be even more superhero attractions being built at Disney Parks. Already, Marvel has been getting a presence at Disney’s theme parks, with Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout acting as a strong example of what Marvel can offer from a theme park perspective. As such, Disney itself has been suggesting that more Marvel attractions would be coming to its parks....

Disney have had a good success rate with movies based on its theme park attractions; perhaps the most well-known adaptation is the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the first installment of which- The Curse of the Black Pearl- took over $654 million globally.
