An artist is claiming that Disney and Lucasfilm plagiarized his work for Solo: A Star Wars Story’s posters. The upcoming Star Wars film publicly suffered from quite a few behind the scenes issues during production, which eventually led to Solo’s original directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, being booted from the project and Oscar-winning director Ron Howard signing onboard as their replacements shortly thereafter. Since Solo wrapped production in October 2017, it was presumed that Disney would ultimately delay the film from its scheduled May 2018 release date to December 2018 (in keeping with Lucasfilm’s release schedule for Star Wars films under Disney’s leadership; Solo is the only Star Wars movie that’s not releasing in December)....

It’s been a little under a week since Disney+ launched, and fans are beginning to notice a number of their favorite television shows are either missing episodes or being aired out of order. Although Disney’s new streaming service contains a ton of kid’s cartoons from the 1990’s, like both the Spider-Man and X-Men Animated Series, as well as DuckTales and Goof Troop, something feels… off. There is already a precedent for Disney using its subscription service to once again rewrite history, as fans of Star Wars have already noted....

Disney may have finally found a director for Cruella. The studio is running through their library of animated properties and giving them “new” tellings in the live-action setting. One of these projects is an origin movie starring Oscar-winner Emma Stone as 101 Dalmations villain Cruella de Vil. Development on Cruella began when Disney was first putting these live-action remakes in motion. The Devil Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna was the first to be hired to script the project back in 2013....

Should the Fox/Disney deal be blocked, Disney would have to pay a $2.5 billion breakup fee. The biggest media merger in years finally became a reality this week, when the Walt Disney Company agreed to purchase much of the film and TV assets of 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion. While many observers of the movie world are approaching the deal in terms of what it means for future X-Men/MCU crossovers, the effects are much bigger than that, from the combination of two of studios that go back to the beginning of Hollywood, to the changing of hands of a staggering amount of major intellectual properties to the change in the composition of the ownership of Hulu to what it means for Disney’s streaming service plans....

Disney has earned a record-setting $10 billion at the worldwide box office. With the recent success of numerous films including Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin and Toy Story 4, Disney has been growing at an astonishing rate. The recent growing success of Disney shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, given that the studio has always been a prominent player in the entertainment industry. But over the past few years particularly, Disney has begun to buy up and consume its competition at such a rate many have begun to question whether the day will come when all forms of multimedia are owned by Disney in some capacity....

Disney has curiously added its logo to one Fox movie, Miracle on 34th Street, while leaving the rest alone. Miracle on 34th Street will be available for streaming when Disney’s new service, Disney+, launches on November 12. Disney has officially unveiled its full lineup of movies and TV shows for Disney +. This includes its own IP, as well as properties from Marvel, Pixar, and 20th Century Fox. Disney recently acquired all of Fox’s movie and TV assets through a widely publicized deal, greatly expanding its already-impressive library....

Over the years, Disney has introduced us to a plethora of duck characters. There’s Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge, characters we’ve known since Disney’s classic days, to Ducky from Toy Story 4, who we just met earlier this year. Drake Mallard, otherwise known by his superhero alias Darkwing Duck, differentiates himself from the rest. Darkwing Duck follows his escapades as he struggles to save the town of Saint Canard from a slew of villains, all the while engaging in typical cartoon slapstick and delivering several topical puns that can be appreciated over two decades after the show’s initial run....

Warning: SPOILERS for Titans Episode 2 It may only be on Episode 2, but DC’s Titans just ended with a cliffhanger guaranteed to get people talking. After introducing Minka Kelly’s version of the DC superhero Dove… her character seems to have been killed in the very same episode. But that can’t seriously be the fate of Dove in the Titans story, can it? Plenty of other characters have dropped dead or been killed in the first episode of the DC Universe series, leaving fans scratching their heads about some of the most nagging Titans questions....

NatGeo’s documentary Free Solo documentary has been censored by Disney+, presumably for brand management purposes. Released in 2018, the NatGeo film chronicles Alex Honnold’s attempts to climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without any ropes or protective gear. Free Solo won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Free Solo mostly focuses on rock climbing, but the subtext underlines Honnold’s personality traits. Directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi explore the psychology behind their subject’s pursuit, and what motivates him to risk his life with each free solo endeavor....

Disney is reportedly not rushing to replace James Gunn after firing him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. One of the biggest shakeups to hit the Marvel Cinematic Universe came less than two weeks ago when Gunn became the center of controversy. Some old tweets resurfaced and the reaction to Gunn’s past attempts at humor resulted in Disney swiftly moving to remove him from Marvel Studios, firing him as the writer/director of Guardians 3....

Disney is using late 2019 to open new chapters of the Star Wars franchise that caters to fans of all mediums. The multimedia juggernaut is reaching consumers through TV, video games, and the big screen. When Star Wars first released in 1977, it was the start of a franchise that would turn into a pop culture phenomenon. VESA has announced today that its DisplayPort 2.0 specs are coming to USB4/USB-C that will bring a jump in the capabilities of video output. The standard will support up to 16K displays with video data throughput of up to 80 Gbps. VESA shared the news on its website today. The new spec coming to USB4 and USB-C devices is called DisplayPort Alt Mode and it brings the power of DisplayPort 2....

Stranger Things star David Harbour is set to join Chris Hemsworth in Dhaka. Harbour broke out in his role as Hopper in Netflix’s original sci-fi/horror series, and the streaming service isn’t ready to let him go. He’s now joining the war movie written by Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo. Harbour has become one of the internet’s most popular actors due to his own online antics. He’s danced with penguins, and may next officiate a wedding in his full Hellboy costume....

Disney is notorious for its direct-to-video sequels from the early days. And somehow, Disney’s sequels remain no less divisive, if only because their original material is so enduring. With such novel, innovative worlds, their sequels must earn the mere right to exist. Nostalgia alone is a massive hurdle, jeopardizing cherished characters that generally don’t require further stories. Further, artistically speaking, the characters and plot must also feel organic to the origins....

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye mini-series for Disney+ may have been delayed indefinitely. Disney officially launched its streaming service late last year, but it was just a few months earlier that Marvel officially confirmed what content they would produce for it. Through San Diego Comic-Con and D23, they announced eight new shows made exclusively for Disney+. A Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton was among the initial wave, along with shows like WandaVision and Loki....
