If you haven’t logged in to your OneDrive Account for a year, you’ll get 30 days’ notice before it’s deleted. Note: If your OneDrive Account is linked to an Office 365 subscription, it will not be closed. Your account has been locked for an extended amount of time.
Unfortunately, after your OneDrive account is inactive for a period of time, Microsoft will delete the data. However, they send out notification emails beforehand.
A user is deleted from the Microsoft 365 admin center or is removed via Active Directory synchronization. The account deletion is propagated to SharePoint. After seven days, the OneDrive for the deceased user is moved to the site collection recycle bin, where it will be kept for 93 days.
Go to the OneDrive website. (Make sure you’re signed in with the right account.) Select Settings > Restore your One Drive from the left menu. Select Settings > Restore your OneDrive from the left menu.
Over time, files will be automatically erased by OneDrive. This option to delete locally stored cloud content may be accessed via the Settings app > System > Storage > Delete locally available cloud contents. The file will still be accessible in the Cloud and can always be found through a user’s request.
