Do Nashville Zoos Have Wheelchairs?

Yes, wheelchairs are provided to assist the ones in need. Visitors can avail themselves of wheelchairs handed out by the Assisting department of the Nashville Zoo.

You can simply request one up for hire at the gate entrance itself. You cannot miss it but even if you do, there is an abundance of staff members at the park ready to be at your service.

The cost of renting items is listed below: –

  1. Single Stroller- $11

  2. Double Stroller- $13

  3. Manual Wheelchair- $12

  4. Electric Wheelchair- $32

Since there is a huge demand for these amenities, the visitors are suggested to get them as early as possible. Otherwise, you could miss out on these if you are too late in the day.

If it just so happens that the park is out of wheelchairs, visitors are more than welcome to bring their own setup as well with them.

The Nashville Zoo has also introduced online booking for wheelchairs and electric scooters which happens to be available on their site (https://www.nashvillezoo.org/tickets).

If the online booking is not available for some reason, there is a phone number which you can contact and book it. The contact info is listed below: –

1-888-441-7575

The number is not necessarily the booking info provided by the Nashville Zoo but rather the place of Nashville itself. So, if the customers are having a difficult time carrying around their apparatus one can also book it from the area of Nashville itself.

Talking about amenities and permissions, the Nashville Zoo also facilitates various other means to assist you that you may want to take it up. One’s experience can become more joyous and convenient with these.

Service Dogs

Yes, you are also permitted to bring your own service dogs during your visit to the zoo. As long as your pet is properly leashed and trained you shall face no troubles from the staff.

You should note that if your pet serves as emotional support for you, it is unfortunate that your dog may not be allowed to get inside the park with you.

There are a few restrictions that do not permit you to bring your service dog everywhere.

Here is a list of the exhibits that you are not permitted to bring your service dog to, due to the behavioral interaction between the two animals.

  1. Kangaroo Kickabout

A kangaroo can see your service dog as a predator of the wild. Therefore, it is advised that you do not take one near them.

  1. Lorikeet Landing

The parrots being noisy can hinder your service dog’s senses and can bring about erratic behavior in it.

3. Critter Encounters

Pretty much the same as the lorikeet mentioned above, while a minor issue, prevention is better than cure in case anything happens.

Catering towards CWSN (Child with special needs)

As I had mentioned before, the Nashville Zoo doesn’t hold back on guaranteeing a wholesome experience for every individual.

Special kits and gear are provided to people and children who face autism.

They provide a unique package for people who fall in the above-mentioned spectrum known as the Zooper Pack. Available right at the ticket booth, the Zooper pack contains: –

1.      Visual Schedule – These can enable you to formulate a proper plan before the day of the visit so that there is no rush at the end.

2.      Bracelet ID – These are basically identifiers that can help you in locating other people if the situation demands so.

3.      Fidget Toys – Something for the kids to get occupied with.

4.      Sensory Friendly Map – A great item for you to navigate and note the areas through the entirety of the Nashville Zoo exhibit.

5.      Ear Plugs – Another utility item for people having high hearing sensitivity and can be used by anyone if annoyed.
