Frozen 2’s recently released trailer gets The Avengers’ official theme treatment in a surprisingly effective mash-up. Disney rolled out fans’ very first look at the much-anticipated sequel of the 2013’s smash hit, Frozen. But this time the Arendelle sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) are much older compared to the last time fans saw them. Together with their trusty allies, Olaf and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), the princesses are set to save their kingdom from another crisis.
Not much can be deciphered from the trailer as it only includes separate shots of the princesses going on their personal adventures. Elsa seems to be pushing the limits of her power by using it to walk on water which makes things intriguing considering her initial thoughts on having that particular skill. The trailer is full of epic shots, alongside action sequences amplifying people’s excitement over the sequel. And while the trailer was greatly-received by the public, a mash-up with The Avengers’ theme actually makes it look more epic.
Created by Jeeves Williams on Twitter comes a fan-edit of the Frozen 2 trailer with The Avengers theme composed by Alan Silvestri. Although the two films couldn’t be any more different, the mash-up surprisingly works well with the theme’s slow build towards its climax is appropriately timed with the visuals of the Disney animated sneak peek. Watch it out below:
For a franchise that’s oftentimes criticized for its bland scores, Silvestri’s The Avengers score was catapulted to popularity when its slowed down version was used for the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer. After the theme debuted in 2012’s The Avengers movie directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel Studios opted to use an entirely different theme for 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron provided by Brian Typer and Danny Elfman to the disappointment of fans. Fortunately, they brought it back for Avengers 3 and Avengers: Endgame as hearing it makes people nostalgic with regard to how far the MCU has gone since its first team-up film.
While sequel’s trailer didn’t debut a brand new song for the film, fans are expected for some great tunes to debut for the flick. The first Frozen film is known for popular and award-winning songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Wanna Build A Snowman” which gives fans the impression that the sequel will also feature great music. Acclaimed composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez who were behind the original installment’s most memorable tunes are returning to pen new ones for the sequel. Considering this, the public can expect kids having brand new favorite songs after Frozen 2 is released.
