While Dreamlight is used to open new parts of the map, Star Coins are used to purchase new clothing, furniture, open new buildings, and much more. With that in mind, here are a few tips to get your money-making off to a great start in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Clear Out Night Thorns
When you first arrive in Dreamlight Valley, the entire place will be infested with dark thorns, and that’s true for each subsequent area that you unlock. One of your first orders of business should be to clear the thorns out, not only because they make it hard to get around, but because they can also yield a good amount of Star Coins. To clear a thorn simply walk up to it and press X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, or LMB on PC to use magic.
Most of the time, a thorn will give you a tiny number of Star Coins, but sometimes, if you’re lucky, they’ll drop a chest that yields even more or some kind of resource like rocks. If you collect more resources than you need, you can simply sell resources to Goofy at his stall for more money. Every little bit helps.
Mine and Sell Gems
Your primary way of making Star Coins will be by gathering rare resources and selling them to Goofy. One of the best resources for that is minerals, which are mined from the rocks that line the walls of Dreamlight Valley. Each gem will net you 200-300 Star Coins, and sometimes you’ll get a gem of even greater rarity that yields 700-900 coins.
Look for the black rocks that sit against cliffs and wall. If you don’t see gems poking out of the rock, that doesn’t mean you won’t find them. Every single rock you mine has a chance of yielding a gem, and if you’re hanging out with a friend that has the Mining Skill, they can even give you an extra gem.
Once you reach Friendship Level 2 with any character, you can choose a skill for them to have, so make sure at least one friend has the Mining Skill. Then simply talk to the character and pick the dialogue option that says, “We should hang out” to bring them along.
Catch and Sell Fish
Fishing can be an even easier way to make money than mining, as you’ll always be able to catch fish. You can fish in the meadows area near the plaza, and in pretty much every area that you can open later on. However, Dazzle Beach is the best place to head early on, as it only costs 1,000 Dreamlight to open.
Instead of just casting your line anywhere in the water, aim for the circle of bubbles in the water. Hold X, A, or LMB to make your casting spot move, and aim it anywhere in the circle of bubbles. Also keep an eye out for bubble circles that are blue or orange, as those are rarer fish that will sell for even more coin.
For example, once you unlock Dazzle Beach, any orange circle will yield a Swordfish, which each sells for 750 Star Coins. Of course, you can also use fish in cooking recipes, so you might want to hang onto at least a couple and sell the rest.
Complete Remy’s Quest and Cook Expensive Food
Another great way to make some extra cash is by making four or five-star meals, which then sell for quite a few Star Coins at Goofy’s stall. While you can technically make good meals with any number of ingredients, it’s easier when you go to the Ratatioulle realm and get Remy in your village.
Early in the story, you’ll get to choose one of three realms to visit for free, one of which is Ratatouille. The other two realms can still be visited by paying 3,000 Dreamlight, but you’re better off choosing Ratatioulle first.
Once you get Remy to Dreamlight Valley and help him open his restaurant, you’ll be able to purchase valuable ingredients like Butter, Cheese, Milk, and Eggs, which will let you make even better, more valuable recipes. Take advantage of these ingredients and use them to make high-star recipes that can be sold for a tidy profit.
That’s everything you need to know about making more money fast in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Now that you’re raking in the Star Coins, youll be able to open new areas, buy new clothes, shop for more furniture, and more without worrying about breaking the bank.
