Adding New Pieces of Armor
The most obvious way to change your appearance is to pick up new weapons and armor sets as you progress through Diablo Immortal. While some of the equipment pieces share the same or similar models, you’ll find that your appearance will change naturally as long as you do not have a cosmetic armor set or weapon already equipped. Those will override any new appearances associated with changing items.
To change your armor or weapons, simply open up your inventory, select the piece of equipment you want to equip, and press the equip button. To remove a piece, do the same but hit remove instead of equip.
Changing Cosmetic Items
Just like almost any game made since the late 2000s, there are different cosmetic options in Diablo Immortal. Besides armor, there are weapons and portals. These are going to be even more unique in terms of their appearance compared to the normal in-game armor.
All three of the available options can be purchased in the in-game shop or by fulfilling certain in-game requirements. For example, those who pre-registered for the game unlocked the Horadric Legacy set for free. Other sets include Diablo II and Heirs to Westmarch, which players must buy either by earning in-game currency or purchasing funds with real money. These sets can either come with just armor and weapons, or they can come with a portal for an additional fee.
As of right now, there are only a few cosmetic sets, and the armor sets can only be applied to your character as a whole; you can’t mix and match a cosmetic set with non-cosmetic equipment or other cosmetic sets. As the game fully releases and as its lifespan plays out, there will definitely be a large number of new sets that get released, and Blizzard may eventually add in the ability to combine pieces from different sets.
To change cosmetics, open up your inventory, select the cosmetics tab underneath your character, select the type (armor set, weapon, or portal) of cosmetic you want to change, select the specific cosmetic, then hit equip.
Altering Avatar Frames
Similar to previous entries in the series, character avatars can have different portraits. Players will receive the “Heirs to Westmarch Frame” just by linking their Battle.net accounts, while they will have to become The Immortal or progress in a Dark Clan to earn more frames.
In order to change a frame in Diablo Immortal, you simply need to click or tap your character portrait on the main UI screen. This will open up a menu with three buttons; click the middle button that looks like a circle with a person in it.
There aren’t a whole lot of options yet, but there will most certainly be more released over time.
Changing Gender, Character Appearance, and Class
As of right now, there are currently no ways to change your gender, your character’s physical appearance, or your class. According to the developers, players will eventually be able to switch classes and genders via an NPC in Westmarch. It isn’t confirmed whether or not this will let you tweak your characters’ facial features, but it would make sense if the ability was eventually implemented; this is done along with gender and class selection during the character creation process.
